Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player secured his initial championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his maiden title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Success also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.

He defended 4 initial chances in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, he earned the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
